Sphinx in Romania

Sphinx Romania is one of the most interesting tourist destination in Romania which is 10 minutes walk from Babele. It is a natural rock formation in the Bucegi Mountains in Romania.
It has an altitude of 2, 216 meters of 7 , 270 feet. 1900 is the years where the first photo of the Great Bucegi Sfinx. The photo was taken from a front position not from the lateral one as it appears in usual pictures nowadays. The image of the sphinx appeared when the rock having an 8 meters height and a 12 meters width was watched from certain angle. Its human appearance is associated with an expression of sovereignty and power, and this is evidenced by the proportionate severe lip and chin voluntary. Pelasgians were previously Greeks, their tribes were scattered mostly in the Aegean Sea. Many historians go so far as to say that the Great Sphinx of Giza, Egypt, is a copy of the Bucegi Platform. This is based on some similarities that are more or less random like that Sphinx of Bucegi is as tall as the Egyptian of Giza.

Danube Delta

Danube Delta or also known as Delta Dunarii is the second largest river delta in the whole Europe after the Volga Delta.
It is one of the best preserved nature in the continent. In Tulcea which is part of Romania is where the greater part of Danube Delta lies.  Surface is approximately 4152 square kilometer of which 3446 square kilometers are in Romania. Razim Sinoe is included with 1015 square kilometers of which 864 square kilometers is water surface. The modern Danube Delta is began forming after 4, 000 BC in a gulf of the Black Sea after the sea rose to its normal level. A sandy barrier blocked the Danube gulf where the river initially built its delta.

Bears Cave ( Peștera Urșilor )

Bears Cave  or also known as Peștera Urșilor in Romanian language was found 1975 by Speodeva who is an amateur speleologist group.
It is considered a wonderful spots in Romnia. The cave is can be found in Western Apuseni Mountains on the outskirts of Chiscau Village in Bihor Romania. The study said that the cave was only used for hibernation based on the fossils found inside that cave. Johann Friederich Esper who wrote the book Newly Discovered Zoolites of Unknown Four Footed Animals that Cave Bear skeletons were first described in 1774.

Berca Mud Volcanoes

Berca Mud Volcanoes are a geological and botanical reservation that can be found in Berca Buzau Romania.
It is the most wonderful kind of mud volcanoes which is small volcano-shaped structures with few metres high caused by the eruption of mud and natural gases. The mud volcanoes are creating a unusual lunar landscape from th absence of vegetation around the cones. Vegetation is scarce because the soil is very salty , an environmental condition in which few plants can survive. When the gases erupt from 3000 metres deep towards the surface hey push up underground salty water and mud and it overflow through the mouths of the volcanoes while the gas emerges as bubbles.

Porolissum

Porolissum was an ancient Roman city in Dacia which is 8 km away from the modern city of Zalau, in Jac village , Creaca Salaj Romania.
It was constructed as a military camp in 106 during Trajan's Dacian Wars and it became the capital of the province Dacia Porolissensis in 124. At the beginning of hi second war against the Dcaian in 106 , Emperor Trajan constructed a military stronghold at the site to defend the main passageway through the Carpathian mountains. The fort, initially built of wood on Stone foundation was garrisoned with 5000 auxiliary troops transferred from Spain , Gaul and Britain. In the 19th century, limited archaeological work at Porolissum had began but it was not until 1977 when Romanian archaeologists began larger-scale, systematic excavation.

God's Bridge in Romania

In Mehendinti in south west part of Romania , the tourist attraction which they called, "God's Bridge " is can be found.
It is the world's three  largest natural bridge  located in the Ponoarele community. The natural bridge is 60 meters long , 13 meters wide and stone features arch 4 meters thick , 22 meters high and with a 9 meters span. It is made from marvel. There is an ancient legend to explain the appearnce of the bridge in this womderful area blessed with 20 hectares of wild lilac  bushes ,karst lakes Zatonul Mare which is the largest of this type in Romania. Also Zatonul Mic and the famous karst rill grounds Afrodita and Cleapatra which are all natural monument in all map of Europe.

Băile Herculane

Băile Herculane is located in Banat Caras- Severin Romania. It is serve as spa town with a long history of human habitation.
The area was discovered to show inhabited since Paleolithic era. The legend says that the popular Hercules stopped to the valley to bathe and rest. The Cave of the Thieves also known as Pestera Hotilor containes multiple levels , including one from the Mousterian period, one from the Mesolithic period and several from the later Neolithic periods. As years passed by , the spa town became most visited for natural healing properties , hot springs with sulfur , chlorine , sodium , calcium , magnesium and other minerals , also the negatively ionized air. Today, the Băile Herculane is still open for tourist and can be visited anytime.

Lacul Vulturilor

Lacul Vulturilor , the Bottomless Lake also known as Lacul Fara Fund in Romanian language.
It can be found in the Buzau Mountains at the Carpathian Mountains south-eastern curvature at 1420 m altitude. Siriu is the nearest town to that lake. The named was derived from the eagles come to the lake to teach their cubs how to fly and after they drunk the water they became younger. The legend was noted by Alexandru Vlahuta. Some people called it Evil lake because they can't reach the bottom.

ARNOTA Monastery

Arnota Monastery is located in Valcea Romania. It was founded in 1634 by Matei Barasab.
It was already monastery when he deicided to build in that place because he found refuge here in one moment when the Turks had pursued him. It only replace the old one in the same place and the architecture of the church was designed in a tri-apses style , being provided with apses and a porch. Between 1705 and 1706 , Constantin Brancoveanu Volvode renovated the establishment. Between 1852 and 1856 , Barbu Stirbei Volvode had the church renovated while the old monastic cells were demolished and new ones were constructed in their place.

Biserica Neagră

Biserica Neagră or Black Church is a cathedral located in Brasov, Romania.
One of the visited tourist spots in Brasov which was built by German community of the city and stands as the main Gothic style monument in the country. It is also the most important Lutheran places of worship in the region or Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession. The cathedral was originally known as Church of Saint Mary. It was constructed during the late 14th century. Biserica Neagră  is 89 meters in length and 38 meters wide. It measures 65 meters from the floor level to the highest point of its only bell tower. The black church has a 6 ton bell. It is the biggest in Romania and it has an impressive 4, 000 pipe organ built in 1839 by Carl August Buchholz which is being used in weekly concerts.

Săpânța, Merry Cemetery Romania

Merry Cemetery is located in Săpânța, Maramureş  in the country of Romania. It is one the of the national tourist attraction and open-air museum.
It became famous due to the coloful tombstones with naive paintings which describe a original and poetic manner , about the persons buried there also some scenes about the lives. The uncommon appearance of the cemetery was derived from the prevalent belief , culturally shared within European societies which is a belief that views death as something deeply solemn. It was connected to the local Dacian culture whose philosophical  tenets presumably vouched for the immortality of the soul and the belief that death was a moment filled with joy and anticipation for a better life. Stan Ioan Patras, a local artists who sculpted the first tombstone crosses in 1935 was also the founder of the Merry Cemetery. 

Râșnov Citadel

Râșnov Citadel is can be found in Râșnov , Brașov Romania. It is a historic monument and landmark in Romania which is now also one of the most visited spots there.
It was built as a part of defence system for the Transylvania villages exposed to outside invasions. It was considered to be built between 1211 and 1225 , during the rule of Teutonic Knights in Burzenland but there was no evidence for this aspects. Citadel on Rașnov and Brașovia are the only citadels remained unconquered in 1335 during Tatar incursion that ravage Burzenland. There is a fountain near to the citadel which was based on the history the fountain was dug by the Turkish prisoner to regain the freedom. It was made due to the absence of water source. The citadel has only a simple architectonic style almopst similar to the rordinary houses of the time and adapted to the fortification requirements. The peasants used stones and bricks for buildings the walls and woods for making the gates and platforms. The towers and walls are covered with roof tiles for preventing the fires from besiegers.

Palace of Culture

Palace of Culture is can be found in Iasi , northern part of Romania.
It was first served as Administrative Palace and became Palace of Justice until 1995. It was assigned as four museums nowadyas united under the name of Moldova National Museum Complex. It was 1906 when the construction was started and was partly built on the old ruins of the mediaeval Royal Court of Moldavia  in 1434. Partly on the top of them foundations of the former neoclassical style palace dated to the time of Prince Alexandru Moruzi in 1806. It was rebuilt by Prince Mihail Sturdza and dismantled in 1904. It was from the latter building that the palace inherited the legend of the 365 rooms, as many as the days within one year. It was designed in flamboyant neo-Gothic style by Romanian architect I.D. Bennider. The palace has 298 large rooms with a total area of over 36 , 000 square metres windows in the front part of the building and another 36 inside the building.

Sarmizegetusa Regia of Romania


Sarmizegetusa Regia was the capital of Dacia prior to the wars with the Roman Empire and the most important military , religious and political centre of the Dacians.  The fortress was the core of the strategic defensive system in the Orastie Mountains and it has 1, 200 metre high. It is not the same to Ulpia of Traiana Sarmizegetusa which is not Dacian capital but it is Roman capital Dacia built by Roman Emperor Trajan located some 40 km away. 

Transfăgărășan Road In Romania

Transfăgărășan Road is can be found in Romania that connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia and two cities which are Sibiu and Pitesti.
This road is the second highest paved road in Romania. It was served as strategic military route. It has 90 km of twists and turns run north to south across the tallest sections of the Southern Carpathians, between the highest peak in the country. The road was made between 1970 and 1974 , the time when the President of Romania was Nicolae Ceausescu. 6 million kilograms of dynamite were used on the northern face and reported 40 soldiers dies there in building accident. The road climbs to 2, 034 metres altitude and from the north is the most spectacular route.

People's House of Romania ( Palace of the Parliament )

Palace of Parliament which is known as Palatul Parlamentului in Romanian Language is can be found in Bucharest, Romania, the capital of the country.
 It is the most heaviest , most expensive admisnistrative building and largest civilian building. It is a multipurpose building which contains chambers of Romanian parliament. Nicolae Ceausescu, the former president of Romania named it People's House. The palace is measuring 270 m by 240 m. 86 m high and 92 m underground. It has 1 , 100 rooms , 2 underground parking garages and is 12 stories tall with tour underground levels currently available for the general public. The floor space is 340 000 square meters 

Salina Turda ( Salt Mine )

Salina Turda is a salt mine and one of the tourist spots in Romania than can be found in Turda Transylvania , Romania. It has been tourist attraction and halotherapy since 1992.
During antiquity, salt was first extracted there and the mine began in 1075 and continued from the Middle Ages. It has a temperature 10 - 12 degrees celsius all the time inside the mine. Humidity is 75 - 80 % persistently.

Peleș Castle

Peles is a palace but it is consistently called castle. It is a Neo- Renaissance castle that can be found in the Carpathian Mountains near Sinaia in Prahova County , Romania.
It was built between 1873 and 1914 and 1883 , its inauguration was held. It's architectural design is similar to Schloss Neuschwanstein in Bavaria which has romantically inspiring blend Neo - Renaissance and Gothic Revival. The castle has 3, 200 square- metre ( 34 , 000 sq ft. ) floor plan with over 170 rooms, many with dedicated themes from world cultures. The themes of the house vary by function such as offices , armories , art galleries etc.

Corvin Castle ( Hunedoara Castle )

Corvin Castle is can be found in Hunedoara Transylvania Romania.
It is located in southwestern Transylvania near the Poiana Ruscă Mountains and administered five villages Bos, Gros , Hasdat , Pestisu Mare and Racastia. Corvin Castle was laid out 1446 by the orders of John Hunyadi  ( Iancu or Ioan de Hunedoara ). It was given to john Hunyadi's father by SIgismund king of Hungary as severance in 1409. Tourists are told that it was the place where Vlad III of Wallachia was held prisoner by John Hunyadi. In the castle yard , near the 15th century chapel, there is well 30 meters deep. Based on the history , it was dug by the Turkish prisoners to whom freedom were promised if they reached water. 

Bran Castle or Dracula Castle

Bran Castle is located in Bran, Brasov Romania. It is one of the best tourist destination in Romania and it is known to be historical because this is where History of Dracula derived.
The fortress is situated between Transylvania and Wallachia. Vlad Tepes who also known as Dracula was died inside the castle but his dead body remain a part of historical issue after it disappeared that nobody knew where and why it happened. Nowadays, Bran Castle became popular to the tourist especially Halloween, Many people from different countries are coming to Romania to experience the historical places in Romania like Dracula Castle. Near the Castle you can find different kinds of lodge or apartemnts that you can rent for some days while spending you vacation in Bran , Brasov
